So here's the thing: you've likely already made plans to spend this week sweating off your holiday pounds in the gym or stopping by the corner store to stock up on nicotine patches per your New Year's resolution. But on the off chance that you've found yourself back at work and bored already, here are a few cool music events, a comedian and a couple things that will hardly cost you a dime.

  1. Chinese New Year Spectacular (Wednesday-Sunday)


    It's still a few weeks until the dragon-led parade winds its way through Chinatown, but this Chinese New Year celebration features traditional music and dance by a New York group called Divine Performing Arts.

  2. Dirtybird Records Four-Year Anniversary (Friday)


    The local house-and-techno label hits its four-year mark and kicks off a new quarterly night at Mezzanine with performances by Claude VonStroke, Worthy, Christian Martin and Justin Martin.

  3. Isabel Allende (Friday)


    The legendary Chilean author hosts a luncheon and discussion of her latest book, a memoir called "The Sum of Our Days" about her relationships with her late daughter and mother. Ticket includes lunch and an autographed copy of the book.

  4. Norm MacDonald (Friday-Sunday)


    The SNL alum and occasional actor is still foremost a comedian--check out his stand-up routine at Cobb's.

  5. Free Urban Wine Tasting Tour (Saturday)


    Start at Vie Winery's new facilities on Treasure Island and embark on a tasting tour of the city's urban wineries--you'll have the opportunity to sample reds and whites from Canihan Family Cellars, Blue Cellars, Morningwood Wines, Treasure Island Wines and more.

  6. Del Tha Funky Homosapien (Saturday)


    Appearing sans his whole Hieroglyphics crew, the Oakland hip hop artist will be joined by Aplus and Bukue One; Ana Sia, Vokab Kompany and Chip Chop will also perform.

  7. Timbuk2 Warehouse Sale (Saturday)


    One of SF's top messenger bag companies is cleaning house and offering more than 1000 of their signature totes at well below wholesale cost.

    Just over five years since it's SF debut, this wicked musical returns to the city to tell the untold backstory of the witches of Oz, proving that it really isn't easy being green.
