When it comes to hair and beauty, PRESTON at Acme is the perfectly balanced professional. He is extremely knowledgeable, but not at all pushy; is a good listener, but will also offer his opinion if asked; he is warm and kind, but also has a silly/sassy side as well; he just seems to be a lovely all around person. PRESTON listened to my concerns/desires/etc.. about my hair (coming off a horrible experience at another salon), did his thing, and I left an hour and a half later feeling like a new person. And it didn't stop there - I have been loving my new cut for 2 months now. I'm not overly dramatic about my hair - I've had a couple sub par cuts in my day and whatever, it grows back, but when you do have a great cut it can transform your whole attitude/ outlook. So, If you want to have a great experience with a talented professional that you can trust to share in your 'vision' give PRESTON a visit and I know you'll leave his salon happy...

I live in San Jose and just happened to stop by Acme, by chance. It is an amazing and unbelievable treat to have a hair cut with Carol Anderberg at the Acme Salon. It is the first time in a long time that a hair dresser actually did what I wanted, and not what she is used to do. I am very happy with Carol and love the Salon’s atmosphere. I highly recommend it to everyone, no matter how simple or sophisticated your taste may be. 5 ***** for Carol. Laqha

I have been regularly going to Acme since it opened a few years ago. The service is fabulous, the surroundings are nice and very clean, the people are engaging and friendly. I have never had a "bad color day" after having my hair done by Dennis at the salon, not to mention he gives the best haircut I have ever had. He knows his stuff, he's fun, engaging, professional and talented, to say the least. I work in a courtroom in a Bay Area county and I was subbing for another colleague. The judge, who I know very well, put her hand over the microphone, asked me to come over to her, and said "your hair looks fabulous," then we continued on with what we were doing. If I can stop a court proceeding with my lovely locks, it makes me very confident that my hair looks as fabulous as it feels. I really can't say enough great things about Dennis, the salon, and all the people that work there. If you don't give it a try, I can only hope that you never have a bad salon day again. If you do give it a try, I can almost guarantee you will never have a bad salon day again. At least that has been my experience and that of my friends. Pick up the phone!

Pros: Professionalism, current in trends, great location, great product, wonderful service

Cons: Sometimes hard to get a last-minute appointment because they are busy

I've been living in the area for only a few months (a Washington DC transplant) and dreaded to undergo the search for a new salon but I found exactly what I was looking for with Acme. The location is awesome. The vibe is very chill. Prestin cut my hair and we spent about five minutes beforehand talking about everything. He did an *amazing* job. One of the best haircuts I've had in my entire life. The entire visit was fun because he's a wonderful person to talk to. Prestin has a new client now. A marvelous haircut for only $50. Yeah. I'm happy.

Pros: Awesome environment. Chill people. Great music.

"I moved here from Los Angeles (land of great hair) to have my hair ruined by inept stylists over and over. After 1.5 years of growing out the damage (flying back to LA for the repair jobs) it was clear I needed to try another local out. Today I met Dennis and he gave me the best haircut of my life! I broke away from the mirror to sign up on citysearch just to sing his praises. I have very thick and wavy hair that Dennis magically thinned into a hip super-cool new do. He seemed to have ESP and knew what I wanted without me struggling to articulate it or being forced to pick out a "look" out of a stupid hair book. The salon is retro 50's inspired with a great vibe. No pretenses...just great energy. Dennis has made me the happiest girl in the Bay!"

Dennis has been styling my hair for over 10 years and I drive from San Jose just for him to do my hair. The color is great and he doesn't fix the same style repeatedly. He gets really excited about creating a new look. He's also a great cook and will share recipes.

My only hesitation in writing a review of Acme is that I won't be able to get an appointment! This is a wonderful, down to earth salon with talented hair dressers that have great skills. The hair products are luxurious as is the service and without the overtly hipster vibe that some hair salons embrace. Don't get me wrong: Acme is absolutely HIP, but it is not a scene. If you want her hair cut and/or colored RIGHT (and who doesn't?) go to Acme. Just please let me still be able to get an appointment!

Recently went to Acme and met with KImberly. She is a nice gal and talented. My friend suggested that i see her and get a new do. I said ok and gave it a try and love my hair. The best thing is that for writing this review I get 20% off my visit and that is a great deal. My friend said to go to Kimberly's website -- KimberlyG . com and look for the "discount for Citysearch reviews". I thnk my co-workers will soon follow..

Kimberly is an amazing stylist!! My main concern is my color and what she does with it is unbelievable. Her cuts are second to none. At least once a week I get compliments on my hair!!! The salon is great but the only reason I go there is because of her. When you make an appointment be sure and do it in advance as she may be booked for a couple of weeks but believe me when I tell you it is worth the wait !!!!!!!!!!!

I got my haircut by Lindsay a while ago and she is the best! My hair was down to my waist and I was ready for a change. Lindsay made me feel comfortable and confident in my decision to cut my long hair. I ended up cutting off 18 inches and was so happy with the turn-out. She cut my hair exactly how I wanted it. I brought in a picture of the haircut I wanted and she did it perfectly! II was so nervous but I put my hair in her hands and she did a great job! On top of that, she was reassuring, fun-spirited, and kind. Since then, my mom, dad, and sister have all gone to see her! I recommend her to any one who needs a hair makeover!

Pros: stylist, atmosphere, everything!

Cons: absolutely nothing!
