Jocelyn at Smith Hampton & Devlin makes you feel like you're her only client. She spends time getting to know not only your career history, but also you as a person. She only will set you up with companies that are a good, long term match. So if you are looking for quick, short-term results, look elsewhere. It might take awhile for her to find the right fit, but Jocelyn makes you feel confident that you will find the right career path with her at your side

As if looking for a new job isn't stressful and daunting enough, who needs impersonal, non-responsive and never-satisfied recruiters "helping" you? I actually didn't realize how painful other agencies can be until I met with the oasis-of-a-staff at SHDevlin. I was recommended to try them from a friend, and I am sure glad I did! Like other reviewers, their office IS homey (I used to work in commercial furniture, so trust me, I know a homey vs. corporate office when I see one) and the staff & owners ARE suuuuuper nice! Angela was the one who helped me out on the daily basis, but they really work as a team to pull through for you. Even though they didn't have something permanent right away for me, they always kept me working. I was simultaneously "working with" several other agencies, but the truth is that NONE of the other ones were on the ball and came through for me like SHDevlin did. The best was that they worked with me and understood my employment concerns and what I was looking for. I took extra time to find the right fit, and they appreciated this. It didn't feel like I was just a paycheck for them, but somehow part of their larger family. I worked so much with Angela that we're on speaking terms more like friends than client-employee. I can tell they care about my well-being, even if I'm not a lifer at their company. I usually don't rave about business like this, but from my experience in the entry- to mid-level employment tier, they're the best stop for recruitment needs. ...and no, they didn't pay me to write this ;-) happy hunting!

Pros: Staff, Environment, Sense of Urgency

Cons: No Direct-Deposit or health insurance available yet for temp staff

Smith Hampton and Devlin rocks! At my first appointment, I ended up meeting with two consultants and the owner! They helped me reformat my resume and let me take a look at the websites of a few other their clients. I had a week-long assignment the following Monday that paid nicely. :) I came in one Friday to pickup my paycheck and the owner threw a party hat on me and pulled me into her office for a birthday party for one of the consultants. I feel more at home in their office than I have at jobs I spent years working at! The staff here is really committed to finding you the right job and keeping you happy. I have gone through other temp agencies in San Francisco where I rarely got called, if ever, and I felt like a number and not a person. I highly recommend Smith Hampton, (obviously, lol).

Pros: Great staff

Cons: the lobby is so comfortable and homey that I didn't want to leave!

I have worked with 5 staffing and temp agencies over the years and found Smith, Hampton and Devlin to be the most friendly, upbeat and helpful. My consultant Angela was really honest with me and gave me pointers on how to revamp my resume so that it better showcased my experience and skills. So valuable! They've been able to keep me busy with temp work while I search for my dream job. I definitely recommend Smith, Hampton and Devlin.

This was my first visit to a staffing agency. I got to work with the owner. She helped me with my resume and ask that I list 4 things I really liked to do in an office setting. I spent about an hour testing and did very well. I am now temping for one of their favorite clients! I really hope I may be able stay on with this company. Anyway, this was a good experience and I would recommend this service to people who want to work with people who care about what they do.

Pros: Very good experience...better than I expected.

Smith, Hampton and Devlin has been the most consistent, professional and personable agency I have had the pleasure to work for. They have played an integral role in maintaining my sanity between jobs and have assisted me in finding a reasonable career path. I think of them as friends. I found them to be highly personable from the beginning and they have not disappointed me since.

Professional and friendly during initial interactions, specifically pre-placement. Detriates quickly to sloppy, insincere and roughish behavior, eschewing any further professional support, which might not result in a direct doller gain for the firm. You are a revolving commodity, take a breather with them, but don't get comfortable. If you can at all avoid them.

I just recently moved to San Francisco a few months ago and needed to get a job. I tried my search independently, sent out my resumes to what seemed like a million businesses and was unsuccessful. When I decided to go the Agency route, I was also disheartened by the clinical approach to most agencies. I felt like I was just being stamped with a number and maybe they would call and help me get a job, at least temporarily. As you can imagine, being in a new city and luck being down, I was ready to give up. Smith Hampton & Devlin was a true silver lining in my dark cloud. They were able to really discuss my job search with me, helped me re-work my resume, and I was well on my way. They were able to place me on a temporary job almost immediately and I really appreciated their professionalism and honesty. They really stressed that I not take a job unless I was truly excited about it, and they made me really look at my job search more objectively. I highly recommend Smith Hampton & Devlin.

Yes, I was tested. Yes, I was asked to work on my resume and make it better. Yes, I was asked to research the company before I went on the interview. I felt funny at first but then all that prep and coaching GOT ME THE JOB. I have referred two of my friends that starting working temp within a week. If you are willing to let these folks guide you they will work very hard to find you a good job....they get my vote!

Pros: The staff makes you feel important.

Cons: The testing can be tiring but I got the job!

Meeting with them at first , everyone is friendly and smiley and were able to find me a job. But once that job was established, there best interest in taking care of me had gone to nothing, and I was upset at how RUDE , ill-mannered, and careless there staff was actually. I have never felt more ignored or offended before in my life. Getting buisness done with them is like talking to a five year old kid, and trying to get them to listen to you. I do NOT recommend this place at all.
