I recently moved to Mercer in Walnut Creek and began my search for a cleaner. A polite, well dressed in uniform, lady stepped out a Dutch Girl Tulip covered van to deliver clothes in my building. She saw I was struggling with some chairs, she immediately assisted me all the way to my NEW home. I thought with this kind of service and smile I should try the cleaner she worked for. Two days later I came into their store and realized that Kindness, Cleanliness, Attention to Detail, and Quality was just a standard there! I really felt like I was being serviced a 5 star Hotel. They went above and beyond to remove ink stains from a pen that leaked during the move. They have won my husband and over, oh yeah and our clothes had no smell, so they won those over too! Thank you Dutch Girls! May turn customer service shine through and not be over come by a bad day!

Pros: Customer service, green cleaning

They stained the elbow of a very expensive men's dress shirt with black marker. It looked like it was the same black marker that they use to write the shirt owner's initials on the shirt with. When I pointed it out, the girls at the counter agreed and offered to clean it for free. When it did not come out, they showed the manager Michelle, and she would not take responsibility for it, and even said it was blue ink. She left no room for discussion and had no problem losing my business. Very disappointing considering I was spending on average about $150 a month there. I will not go back and would not recommend this place for dry cleaning.

Ink Marks

I do apologize that you feel there was no responsibilty taken. To be more clear there were three blue ink stains on the left sleeve of the pink shirt. The area effected was the direct result of an arm sitting on a desk with a pen open and the tip of the pen spreading ink onto the shirt. Yes we do use a BLACK sharpie to write intial in the bottom inside of a shirt, the rest ofthe pens in the entire facility are ball point bic, which is incapable of bleeding unto garments and removable. We service most of the office in Walnut Creek and a large majority of our clients bring in shirts requesting the removal of ink in the same area you are mentioning, from placing their arm down on their desk. After examing your orders you have several other shirts with the exact same pen color and area marked, looking through your past invoices we have noteably removed these stains from your shirts before. I can under stand your frustration and do apologize. Michelle Windsor General Manager

This is my first review. I live about 2 blocks away from Dutch Girl. At first I was leary about the "environmentally safe" cleaning because I wasn't sure if my clothes would come out as nice as a traditional cleaning method. I find the staff is very helpful, they carefully inspect the materials of my clothes to make sure they don't need to over charge me to simply launder and press a garment instead of fully dry cleaning it. I've always been able to pick up my clothes after 4pm 2 days after I drop my items off, and whether I have 2 pieces or 20, they're always on time. If you look carefully, Dutch Girl also offers some great deals at various times during the month, so you can feel good about helping the environment and not feel like you are paying an arm and a leg. The staff has always been friendly to me, and they have done everything they can to ensure my clothes are done right the first time.

Oh my goodness! This has to be the best dry cleaners ever! Now, I don't get a lot fo dry cleaning done (but everyone in our company uses Dutch Girl and loves them - like at least 20 accounts!) but when I need it, I go there! I recently got married and wanted just to clean MY special dress (even though they offer a very affordable "preservation" package. The dress came home perfect...no yellow tinting, not spots or any horror stories you hear about other places. They are also the friendliest people you could ever meet! A good business with good people. IF you don't take your cleaning there - you're missing out!

Pros: GREAT HOURS! GREAT LOCATION (next to Freeway)! GREAT PRICES!

Cons: none - they even deliver!!!

Back in July 2007, my shirts were missing at Dutch Girls, and when they were found and returned to me, the missed shirts were pressed but stuck with many dots of dust as if they had been thrown on the floor. I had a bad experience communicating with a 50 something year old clerk there, and due to a lack of accountable person at the store, it took a while to get them to re-do the job. Finally, as a token of apology, Dutch Girls did not charge me for those missed shirts. Hence, I kept using their services. But, in February 2008, one of my shirts was missing and Roger, a self-claimed store manager called me to tell me that he would reimburse the cost of the shirt if I gave him my credit card receipt. After I search it, I could not locate a two months' old receipt. I called back and left a message for Roger that I wanted to discuss other remedies for the missing shirts because I did not find a receipt. I have not heard anything from Roger or anybody else since then. I gave up. I had used several laundry shops in San Francisco for over 12 years, but none of them had lost my shirt. Dutch Girls' complete lack of accountability turned me off. I stopped going back sine then. If you like a thrill of losing your clothes, go for Dutch Girls.

I apologize for your experience. This is not up to Dutch Girl Standards. We have hired all new staff, all our wonderful Girls left for College. It has been very difficult training. This is not meant as an excuse, we are being honest. I would really like to speak with you in person, please call me at 925-872-6333. Again I do apologize for your experience, this review will be shared with all staff. Please keep in mind that all the new staff just started The week of the 27th through the week of aug 6th. I use this cleaners because they are close & convenient, but the cleaning is the worst I have ever experienced. I have never had an experience where the clothes come back almost as dirty as when I took them in. Either its the new "environmentally friendly" method they use, or they are lazy. I just had to return a sofa cover because it was still covered with dirt--and the second time came back dirty too. Laundry is o.k.. Only reason to use this cleaners is the good parking.

After reveiwing this entry and researching your Sofa Cover I found that the owner and cleaner/spotter both recommended to you that your cover be laundered to remove the stains. You declined and stated you were afraid of shirkage. We followed your request and Drycleaned the cover. The result was a clean but stained Sofa Cover. The second time it was cleaned (at your request to Drycleaning again), it came back with the same results. I am sorry to see that by following your specific requests and you denying us the proper method of cleaning has upset you. You are more than welcome to come back in at anytime and allow us to clean by laundering for better results! Michelle Windsor

I just called to get rates and hours over the phone: The girl was laughing the whole time I was just asking what times and days they were open for business! How unprofessional! I will NEVER attempt to clean my garments here!!!!

I find this very upsetting. We have prided ourselves on our Custsomer Service. I have many letters from customers stating their phone experience is what brought them in. They felt as if they had called a Hotel. We actually shop call the girls 3x's a week to ensure they are answering correct. I do apologize for your experience. Michelle Windsor

Dutch Girl Cleaners is a great place to go. I am a mother of two and always on the run. I take my husband’s work shirts to Dutch Girl and they always do a terrific job. They pay special attention to requests that I have and the shirts come back looking great! They provide top-notch service as well. When I have the kids in the car and I come to pick up the clothes, I can just call ahead and tell them I'm coming in and they bring the clothes right out to the car. It’s so nice to have a small business where they still give you really good personalized service and care about their customers. I highly recommend it!

Pros: A great family owned small business, parking is easy, great service, and new building

Dutch Girl has been a staple in Walnut Creek for over 30 years. Their customer service is great, and the cleaning expertise is even better. What more can you ask for from a family business? The owners and staff are friendly and always make sure to accomodate any of my cleaning needs. I have been to other cleaners before and have never had anyone take care of my clothing the way that Dutch Girl does. They also have an excellent alterations department. Just last week, I got a pair of jeans hemmed, and they did a great job. If you are looking for a great cleaners with years of knowldege about cleaning, and a fabulous and friendly staff, look no further than Dutch Girl!

Pros: Can't beat the parking!

DO NOT GO HERE! They lost 4 of my shirts. Manager stated that 20 orders went out and that it probably got piggybacked with someone else's order. They told me they called all 20 people and that only 4 people called back. It has been 2 weeks and they still do not have my shirts. Manager said that she has been calling people every couple of days and leaving messages. I find it hard to believe that 16 people do not return phone calls! ***UPDATE! got my shirts back, but one of them it look like someone wore it and they did not clean them when they got it back....i cannot stress enough how much this place stinks! ***Response to Michelle: The shirts were not returned within 4 days, it was 2 weeks. Also one of the shirts was returned dirty. I have no reason to lie about when the shirts were returned or the condition of them when returned.

Cons: Poor customer service, untrained employees

This customer had 4 shirts that a Trainee had accidently given out. I called every customer that had picked up that day and yes very few responded. We cleaned her other shirts at NO charge and removed the charge for the four shirts. The shirts were located with in 4 days and returned to the customer recleaned! Every week she would have a delicate garment or want something done a special way and I always took care of it for her.. I always took very good care of her and her clothes. We made a mistake and apologized.
