Editorial Review for di Rosa Preserve – by Stephanie Rosenbaum
Overview
Rene di Rosa, a longtime Bay Area resident and avid art collector, has created a unique mix of art gallery and nature preserve across the rolling meadows of this Napa Valley property. Housed in 3 airy, warehouse-style galleries as well as a 100-year-old stone winery (formerly di Rosa's personal residence), this collection of work by Bay Area artists encompasses some 2000 artworks ranging from the comical to the sublime.
The Experience
The di Rosa Preserve stretches over 53 acres of open space and a 35-acre lake, both of which double as outdoor sculpture gardens. Strutting and fanning around the grounds, a group of live peacocks add their own dramatic and artistic touch to the bucolic setting.

Rene Di Rosa's collection is absolutely incredible! It represents one mans life journey with an intimate connection with grass roots artists of the Bay Area. Spanning 50 years, his collection contains multiple pieces from a single artist produced over time, creating microcosims of their carreers. Though "modern" art often appears nothing more than paint splattered on paper, none of that is here. These pieces have powerful political, social, spiritual, and human messages (leave the kids home), produced through ingenuity and invention, stretching the boundaries of "tradition", but leaving no doubt that they are "ART". As a result of Mr. Di Rosa's nurturing many young artists over time, he has amassed a legacy everyone should see. If you love art, I promise you will be overwhelmed!
Pros: Never Crowded, A Good Value, Simply Beautiful
Cons: , Reservations Not Easy, Can Be Hard to Find
