My family came to St. Giles' parish from St. Mark's parish, in Palo Alto. We were not hoping to find a community as wonderful as the one that we had left behind, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that St. Giles is here, in Moraga, and is a perfect fit for us. I was particularly impressed by the unique relationship that St. Giles maintains with St. Mary's College. We are, after all, all Christians. It would be such a shame to have that beautiful chapel silent on a Sunday morning. My family are particularly moved by the excellent music that enhances the services at St. Giles. There is a rich musical heritage in the church that is not often used any more. At St. Giles, it is alive and well. The organist is outstanding and the choir is delighted to have new singers. The people at St. Giles are exceptional, warm, friendly and generous. And we are blessed with the presence of Father Duane, who ministers to ALL of us in the kindest, most friendly way. St. Giles gave OUR family a real CHOICE, when it came to finding an Episcopal Church in the East Bay.

This Episcopal church is a hidden treasure. The parish owns no property, and yet they worship in the most beautiful chapel in the area--the chapel at St. Mary's College of California in Moraga. Their relationship with the Catholic Christian Brothers at the college is perhaps their greatest strength. There are no signs directing you to St. Giles, the Town of Moraga prohibits church signs, but this church is worth doing a little wandering to find. I have been a member since 2002 when I came to St. Giles from a church-in-crisis in Concord. I live in Concord. If anyone had told me five years ago that I would get up on Sunday morning at 7:00 to drive 15 miles to attend church at 9:00, I would have told him or her that he or she was crazy. The people were so friendly and accepting. The rector's sermon that first Sunday seemed to have been written specifically for me. Everyone is affirmed regardless of socio-economic level, political persuasion, or lifepath. Please come and join us! We are waiting for you.

Pros: Wonderful people, great chapel and surroundings, small parish
