Editorial Review for Pacific Rod & Gun Club – by Patrick Heig
This public recreational facility has been operating since 1928, with skeet ranges, a duck tower, hunter-safety training and other sport-shooting amenities. Overlooking Lake Merced, where geese, ducks and other wildlife frolic just out of range, the PRGC is a membership club, although the mostly friendly old-timers you'll find in the clubhouse are happy to help out clueless shooters. Only shotguns (you need to bring your own)--from 12 gauges to .410s--are allowed on the premises, and no toxic lead ammo is allowed, so as not to pollute the lake. Skeet shooters feed tokens into clay-pidgeon-launching machines or have "pullers" launch skeet for them; the action's like Duck Hunt on the original Nintendo, except the guns have a bit more kick.
