This is not your typical Safeway experience. First of all, it's a trek into the industrial/residential side of Bayview. And then there's the fact that you won't find standard grocery fare like peanut butter and lowfat milk--instead, you'll find the sort of gamey meat selection more common at a hunting lodge in rural Canada than a tiny shop in very urban SF. Whole lambs, reindeer steaks, frog legs, skinned rattlesnakes, tubs of rendered duck fat--you name it, they have it. Whether it makes your tummy churn or growl, the options are interesting to say the least. And for those of you who are a little faint of stomach, there are plenty of ordinary choices like turkey bacon, smoked salmon, fresh-picked lingonberries, parmesan cheese and more.
